5 Ways to Wear A Printed Midi Skirt
Sometimes, knowing what to pair with a vibrant or heavily printed article can be a real pain! It’s easy to get stuck wondering what colors or layers go with what.
So, today I’m walking you through 5 different ways to wear a print midi skirt.
I’ll share tips on how I make a look feel authentic to me. Feeling authentic is a sure way to help boost confidence and elevate one’s style.
I hope to stir up some inspiration for you to try out a midi skirt and experiment with ways you can maximize your wardrobe!
I’ve always loved midi skirts and think they are great for transitional seasons.
This late winter and early spring, try switching out your denim, leggings, or joggers for a midi skirt with these different outfit combinations! Pending the weather, you can pair any of these looks with tights or add thicker layers for additional warmth.
Look 1 - Sweater & Statement Boots
Who doesn’t love a good sweater? I paired a solid black sweater with this midi skirt to balance out the print . You could go with a cropped sweater, a chunky cardigan , an oversized turtleneck sweater.
You know… any of those cozy, winter sweaters you want to wear on repeat but get tired of wearing with the same thing? (Here’s a great way to spice those up!)
If print isn’t entirely in your comfort zone, make sure to pair it with solids to help balance it out and not feel overwhelmed by the print.
I chose a simple black knitted sweater with a cross back. The back helped to spice up the simple look.
I paired it with fun statement earrings that matched the skirt to give it a cohesive look. The choice in earrings and white studded boots I paired with this look, gave an authentic and elevated touch.
For maximum confidence, go with a sweater that you feel comfortable in.
When trying to experiment with new looks and styles always remember to stay true to what works & feels best for you.
Ask yourself if where and how the sweater lays on your waist or over the skirt is something you’ll feel good about throughout your day.
Look 2 - Turtle Neck & Cropped Jacket + White Boots
I paired this printed skirt with a cream turtleneck and cropped leather jacket. I love a form fitted turtleneck during thing winter. It makes for such an easy layering piece, not too mention I feel super comfortable and sexy in a form fitting top and light outer layer, so I was feeling this look.
The cropped leather jacket and white studded boots subtly added an edgy touch to this look in a way that is authentic to my style.
One way to make a look more authentic is to bring in pieces that show your personality.
For me, my white boots are one of my favorite way to make a statement, wearing them alone gives me confidence so anytime I find a look to rock them with, I already feel stylish and confident.
What are some pieces that are truly aligned with your style?
Finding fun ways to utilizes those pieces is a sure way to help you feel confident! Even when you’re experimenting with new looks or introducing a new trend into your wardrobe.
Look 3 - Blazer & Crop Top + Heels
I always love an excuse to rock a blazer!
Pairing a blazer with a midi skirt is a sure way to make a simple yet elevated statement. For this look, I paired a long blazer with one of my go-to black crop tops.
I added a chunky chain necklace and gold chunky earrings to add some character and help the look feel more casual than serious.
Here’s an up close of my accessories. I love utilizing accessories to help give a look a certain vibe.
For this one, I wanted to be more playful and casual.

However, when it was time to get my headshot at Luna (Women’s Apparel Boutique) I knew I wanted to give a more professional vibe. I used the same blazer and midi skirt combo but added a mock neck white shirt instead of the crop top.
I still used accessories to make the look authentic to me, but chose pieces that were aligned with the professional yet playful vibe I wanted to give.
One of my current obsessions at Luna is this Warrior Ring I paired with the look above. It’s such a bold, edgy statement that has this subtle and timeless aura to it. I put it on and immediate feel like a bad ass.

Look 4 - Cami & Cropped Jacket + Sneakers
I paired this printed midi skirt with a rust orange cami and cropped leather jacket. This combination is perfect for those unexpectedly warm days in this late winter/early spring season we’re finding ourselves in, in the midwest. Plus, it’s so simple and you can play it up or down as much as you want.
I went with a rust orange color because I wanted to add a little bit more color to the look. I always get an itch to start bringing color back into my wardrobe when spring fashion is right around the corner.
Plus, this cami always makes me feel so good, I love the combination of it on my skin tone.
It doesn’t really matter if you want to pair it with a neutral or a colored cami, go with one that has the perfect fit or perfect color that makes you feel confident.
To add a causal touch, I chose sneakers.
Another reason I love a good midi skirt: you can easily pair it with sneakers to elevate a casual and comfortable outfit.
This is the type of look I would wear to go explore the city. I went easy with the accessories, but you could easily dress this look up with a statement necklace or earrings and a different choice of shoes such as flats, booties or heels.
Look 5 - Long Sleeve Crop Top + Sneakers
Last but not least, I went with another casual option for this printed midi skirt. I paired it with a long sleeve crop top.
For extra warmth, you could easily throw another layer over or add some tights.
Though not pictured, I went with sneakers again for this look.
I really wanted to play into all the different ways to dress down a midi skirt along with all the ways to dress it up.
Some other ways to make a cute printed skirt more casual could be to pair it with:
A cute, cozy hoodie & beanie (or baseball cap) + Sneakers
A loose crop top + Sneakers
A Denim Jacket & Tee + Sneakers
A Turtleneck + Sneakers
